Tidy City is a location based game for Android phones. The game is about bringing order into chaos. Just look around and you will see many things that don't belong. Go there, investigate, collect - and then bring them to their real location. It is your mission to tidy-up the city!
The first thing you need to do is to select a mission that you want to solve. Just press the button in the main menu and browse to all that are available. Then choose one that you want to play - it might be a good idea to take into consideration your actual location. Trying to solve a mission set in Berlin will be absolutely impossible if you are in Paris right now. The game design was conceived by Michael Straeubig.
Important: For downloading a mission, you should probably use WLAN, depending on your data plan and current connection speed and stability.
Playing the game
Once you have started a mission, you will see a map depicting your surroundings. You should also see a blue dot somewhere on the map. This is you! The game needs GPS for locating you in the real world, so you have to make sure that it is switched on when playing the game. And you will also hopefully see some orange icons. If not, try zooming out a bit. You can either pinch and zoom or tap the screen once and then use the plus and minus sign for zooming. You can also navigate around the map by dragging your finger on it.
Now, tap on one of those orange icons. You should see some information about what is hiding there. It can be a building, a monument, a tree, a restaurant, or really anything. Now try to get really close to one of those icons. Remember, you really need to walk there! Tidy City is a location based game after all. Try tapping the icon again when you are standing right next to the icon.
Watch out for new riddles and check your position on the map.
If you are close enough, you can pickup a riddle and store it in your inventory.
This should now show you some more information, including a short text and an image. These are your clues that will (hopefully) help you solve the riddle of where this item really belongs.
Make sure to put your newly found item into your inventory by pressing the pick-up button. Once you have done this, you can always look again at the item by switching to your inventory view.
Now you can either collect more of these disordered items that are scattered on the map, or you can start tidying up the city. Ponder about the clues that you have. Where does each item really belong? Maybe you know it immediately, sometimes you might need help. Don't hesitate to ask friends, family, the internet or random strangers.
Spot the place, where your item belongs.
If you are close enough, solve the riddle by placing it where it belongs.
When you think you know where an item belongs, once again you have to walk there (or take a bus, a boat or a jet pack - whatever mode of transportation you prefer). Then you should select the item from your inventory again, and press the solve button. If you were right, then the item will reveal some more information about itself and you will gain lots of points! You can always later check out a successfully delivered item again by checking out your showroom or by tapping on the mint icons on the map. But now it is time to try to figure out where the next item in your inventory belongs!
You might not be able to solve a mission in one go, but don't lose heart! You can always come back to a mission later and try your luck with another one in the meantime.
